That's right, thanks for all that I learned on Saturday at the AERA conference on Saturday. I had no idea how good all the presenters would be. The first session we attended had a group of Asia Americans talking about the effects of L.A. on their culture. There was also someone from Romania who talked about free form class settings.
TH next section In attended was about track learning in schools. This affects higher Ed. as some people are limited on their education because they are put on a lower track in school. The other surprise was my sister was presenting at the conference. She was on Sunday so I missed her.
The next few session's I attended related to Charter schools and the effect they have on education. I am on a board of a charter school and people don't always have the best things to say about Charter school. True charter schools may sometimes seem over the top, but what I learned I will take to my school and keep me focused on a better balance of students. This will hopefully lead to more people getting the chance to go to college.
The whole day flew by and I was sorry the day came to an end. I left excited to learn, that is something I have not felt for a long time. I am glad I have gone back to school and can attend events like this one.

Sounds like you enjoyed your day at the conference, which is just wonderful. In addition to attending sessions, the other thing I really enjoyed is networking. I attended a couple of division and SIG (special interest group) business meetings while I was at the conference. I got to connected with some grad students that have similar research interests with me. We also talked about working on research paper or publish studies together. The academic conference really offers me a great platform to interact with other fellows.
ReplyDeleteLin,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all that you shared in the class. Good luck with the follow students you have met up with and are going to work with.
