The day after April fools and the land is covered with both good and bad jokes. The Chronicle for Higher Education reported on many schools attempt at humor. The title of this entry is form a blog that claimed that 400 people got admitted to college that should have bee rejected. This has caused the GPA of the College to fall. In these budget minded times do we really have time to waste ready about and playing jokes on each other. The answer is YES!
Jonhs Hopkins University changing it's name to Jonh Hopkins University, saying they have had it with people miss pronouncing the name. This good clean fun could save the economy. Please let me explain. The productivity gains by those of us luck stiffed to have a job has gone way up over the past year. This in turn is keeping our employers from hiring more staff. So please slow down, work on your Avatar, or spend more time on Face book. What ever you do stop being so productive. Come on we all know someone that could use the work. Okay back to a few more of the jokes that took place.
There was one school that wanted the Giant panda as their mascots. One more school started taking students from the planet Pandora. Closer to Home we had staff staff tossing fake eggs for you to catch, or putting in two week notice. I sure am happy we didn't play with the food. My point is simple, and coming from someone who works more than he should. Please save America, slow down, play a little, so we all can have something to do.

Seriously? I enjoy a good joke and even as a Hall Director, I enjoy a good April Fools Day joke. However, when it comes to messing with someone's grades and/or admittance to a university, I think that this is when it has crossed the line.
ReplyDeleteIn this tough economy, many people are going back to school to further their options in the job market and applying to schools can be a very stressful thing. And to be admitted because of a joke, that doesn't seem very nice to me. Sounds pretty cruel actually!
But, I will agree with the fact that we all need to slow down from time to time and enjoy the little thing in life more often.
