With the economy slowly growing from its major downslide we are finding college graduates still on the lookout for jobs in diverse arenas. Recently a university promoted a new organization to help college grads make it into the work place, if they were willing to bare it. The SFA Strippers for America organization has been growing rapidly due to the lack of what some may call normal jobs. Because of the economy our students are willing to go to extremes to pay off their student loans. I think this is a great idea that perhaps our own career services should take a look at promoting, since our teachers job fair didn’t go over so well. Founder of the SFA Avanna Gonaked has promoted the organization to multiple institutions around the United States. According to an article from the Washington University of St. Louis press, the SFA will train and provide all of its members with the skills necessary to be successful in the work place. Avanna Gonaked said that “Because the economy is so shitty right now, current grads are dying to get jobs with SFA,” explains Gonaked, “It’s great to see so many people willing to take on the challenge of working in sketchy clubs and taking their clothes off for strangers.” I’m concerned that this market may soon to be flooded with applicants who are willing to do whatever it takes to get a job in this poor job market. I myself have considered cornering the market here in Greeley in order to get a head start on paying off my undergraduate bills. Overall I think it’s a great idea and have already contacted career services to implement a “Meet Me at the Pole” field day for potential applicants for this career. It’s a tough job search out there and we as an institution need to provide any means necessary to allow opportunities for our alum to get a job, post graduation.
HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY EVERYONE!!!!
